I wasn't even sure about getting another cat after I lost my soul cat last year, I'm so glad I did for many reasons.
This is Susan. She managed to wake me up at around 3am (I sleep like the de d) and drew my attention to my charging phone which was stupidly on my bed. When I picked up the phone she was stressing over I realised the whole thing was red hot, screen cracked, and the charger and charging port were smoking pretty bad.

Zaramelaaa I had a cat who woke me up to a stranger messing with our door. Cats are little angels in disguise.
electric29 My Tina woke us up in the middle of the night, we could not figure out why. I turned on the lights and they were brightening and dimming with the wind (there was a tree rubbing on the wires into the house and causing power surges). She practically dragged me into the kitchen where we found the microwave, on fire, inside (I didn't know that was possible). Good kitty.
theexitisontheleft This isn't the first time I've heard of a cat waking up their human over a fire/smoke. What a good kitty!
laurel_alexis My first cat once woke my mom up in the middle of the night and led her outside to show her that our neighbor's house was on fire. They're our little guardians
Spiritual-Road2784 Not as dangerous thank goodness, but the toilet in the full bathroom has jinky guts I need to replace one of these days, and I've been turning off the water to it between the day's flushes (I live alone with six cats) because it will run constantly.
Well, I must've been distracted and forgotten to turn off the water because next thing you know, the Alarm Cat is going off (one of them alerts me to everything from cars pausing in front of my house to people knocking). I follow him and
he leads me and another cat to the bathroom. The cats stop suddenly and stare while I stupidly waltz into the room and AGGGH WHY IS IT WET (ancient speckled linoleum floor, can't see sh on it) and then I saw the running toilet happily flushing itself and overflowing.
It was just water (thank goodness) but a mess to clean up and I got there right before it breached the perimeter onto wood parquet, but that's an alert cat, and he understood that the weird thing I sit on throughout the day isn't supposed to vomit up its contents.
doctordonnasupertemp Thank goodness for cats! My best friend's cat saved them and the condo they live in. The condo 2 floors above was on fire and it had spread to the balcony above them. Balcony glass and ash was falling down.
Strong-Insurance8678 Go Susan! My kitty once came and yowled at me until I followed her into the kitchen, where I had left a cast- iron pan on the burner to condition it and forgot it. The oil in the pan was smoking like crazy and about to ignite. I ended up getting an induction stove to help prevent a repeat, and the cat gets many treats and skritches to this day!
localfluffhead Once my cat alerted me that there was a blueberry on the floor
